BCW star duo win UK Young Lions Competition

The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) is pleased to announce that Mitra Karanjkar and Ella Hurworth from BCW have won the UK Young Lions Competition 2023 for their ‘United Against Child Abuse’ campaign. The duo will go on to represent the UK at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Responding to a brief set by NSPCC, the UK’s leading child protection charity, Mitra and Ella beat a field of 57 teams with their campaign. Each team had 24 hours to create a campaign that informed adults on ways to keep children safe.

Mitra Karanjkar and Ella Hurworth said:

“Thank you to the PRCA and NSPCC for this amazing opportunity, it’s been a privilege to work on such an important and worthy cause. We’re thrilled to win! A huge thank you everyone at BCW for their support and encouragement throughout. Both of us are excited to represent the UK at Cannes.”

Commenting on the winning pair, judge Ottilie Ross, Creative Director, Halpern and PRCA Creative Group chair said:

‘’We were really impressed with the winning team's creativity, poise, and attention to detail. It was clear that they'd researched every facet of their campaign and could confidently tackle any challenge posed by the judging panel. A masterclass in preparation, on top of having a standout idea that wowed the NSPCC clients and industry professionals alike."

PRCA Deputy Director General, Renna Markson, said:

"It is heartening to see the UK's next generation of talented PR practitioners tackle such an important issue of stopping child abuse and neglect. Mitra and Ella set themselves apart from a competitive field with their creativity and nuanced planning. Congratulations Mitra and Ella for your outstanding accomplishment – go Team UK!”
