PRCA Africa NextGen Group Announces New Leadership Team

The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) has announced a new leadership team for its PRCA Africa NextGen Group, as the group continues to build on its momentum and expand opportunities for emerging communications professionals across the continent.

Cherná Lutta has stepped down as Chair after playing a pivotal role in establishing and growing the group into one of PRCA Africa's most active communities. Under her leadership, the group launched regular breakfast events and student bootcamps across South Africa, introduced online learning opportunities, and delivered the inaugural PRCA Africa NextGen Conference as part of the PRCA South Africa Conference earlier this year.

Lerato Motloung, Account Director at Havas South Africa, has been appointed Chair for a two-year term. An experienced communications professional, Lerato has built her career delivering strategic communications programmes for leading brands and organisations. A passionate advocate for developing future talent, she has been an active member of the NextGen Committee and is committed to creating opportunities that inspire, connect and support the next generation of PR and communications professionals across Africa. As Chair, Lerato will also join the PRCA Africa Executive Committee, ensuring the priorities and perspectives of the NextGen Group are represented as part of PRCA Africa's wider strategic direction.

Supporting her as the newly appointed Vice-Chair is Sarah-Justine Ward, Social & Influencer Lead at Clockwork. SJ brings extensive experience in digital storytelling, influencer creative direction and community building. She will work alongside Lerato over the next two years before stepping into the Chair role, providing continuity and ensuring the group's long-term development.

The Committee has also welcomed Thulisa Mvandaba, PR Account Manager at Havas South Africa. Thulisa brings strong expertise in client management, media relations and strategic communications, with a passion for delivering impactful campaigns and supporting the growth of young professionals entering the industry.

I'm looking forward to working alongside SJ and Thulisa as we continue creating opportunities that help shape the future of our profession."

The PRCA Africa NextGen Group is dedicated to supporting individuals at all stages of their PR journey, providing a platform for peer-to-peer learning, discussion and access to industry leaders. Focused on igniting ambition and uniting young practitioners across the continent, the group equips members with the tools needed for meaningful career growth.

Upcoming activity includes in-person breakfast sessions in Johannesburg and Cape Town, alongside a series of online events including Meet the Media, all designed to support those early in their careers as well as those looking to enter the profession.
