PRCA Africa Strengthens Sustainability Committee with Three New Leadership Appointments

The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) today announced the appointment of Adam Hunter, Kirtanya Maharaj, and Nabiella de Beer to its PRCA Africa Sustainability Committee.

Adam Hunter, Managing Director of Hook, Line & Sinker, joins the Committee following his work with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on global climate campaigns including #ClimateCounts and WeatherKids. Hunter brings expertise in narrative strategy, youth climate engagement and data-driven climate communication.

Kirtanya Maharaj, Manager of WWF-SASSI at the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF South Africa), adds scientific and environmental depth to the group, with experience spanning biodiversity conservation, sustainable consumption, science communication, conservation education, and community-based sustainability initiatives.

Nabiella de Beer, Head of PR at Havas Red, brings strong capability in integrated communications, purpose-led brand strategy and audience insight, helping organisations translate sustainability commitments into clear and credible narratives.

PRCA Africa Head of Membership, Jo Brophy said:

“The appointments of Adam, Kirtanya and Nabiella strengthen the Sustainability Committee’s ability to support communicators across the continent with credible, science-aligned guidance. Their expertise in climate communication, conservation and purpose-led storytelling will help advance transparency and impact in sustainability communications across Africa.”

Adam Hunter said:

“Sustainability communication is increasingly critical, and I look forward to working with the Committee to support communicators in delivering impactful, credible and engaging stories across the continent.”

Kirtanya Maharaj added:

“It’s an honour to join the Committee and contribute to raising standards in sustainability communications. I hope to bring a science-led perspective to help guide and inspire the industry.”

Nabiella de Beer said:

“I look forward to creating guidance for organisations to tell authentic sustainability stories that resonate with audiences and drive meaningful impact.”

The new members join an established Committee that includes Karena Crerar, CEO of Edelman; Sarah Gooding, Managing Director of WE Communications; and Laurent Potage, Chief Communication and Sustainability Executive at Alteo Limited.

Together, the expanded team will help PRCA Africa continue to champion responsible, transparent and impactful sustainability communication across the continent.
