PRCA EIAB Statement on the Manchester Terror Attack
Following the devastating terror attack in Manchester yesterday, in which two Jewish people were murdered on their way to synagogue, we extend our deepest condolences to all those affected, including colleagues in our communications community who may be grieving or impacted.
At a time of rising antisemitism in the UK, we echo the Chief Rabbi’s comments that this is not only an assault on the Jewish community, but an attack on the very foundations of humanity, and the shared values of compassion, dignity, and respect we all share.
We recognise that this is a profoundly frightening moment for Jewish colleagues and communities across the country, and we stand in full solidarity with you, committed to ensuring our profession remains a place of safety, support, and unity.
In times like these, it is natural to feel anxious, fearful, or overwhelmed. We encourage colleagues to:
- Check in on your Jewish colleagues and friends. Small acts of kindness and solidarity can help people feel less isolated in moments of fear
- Report any threats or harassment to the police immediately (call 999 in emergencies, 101 otherwise)
- Make use of the Community Security Trust (CST) for practical safety advice and to report antisemitic incidents. They offer a 24/7 hotline on 0800 032 3263
- Visit the Campaign Against Antisemitism website, particularly their guide on recognising antisemitism: Recognising Antisemitism
- Prioritise wellbeing. The Jami UK mental health charity (jamiuk.org) provides tailored support for the Jewish community. More general support is also available through Mind (0300 123 3393) and Samaritans (116 123).
This is a moment for our sector to show compassion, solidarity, and resolve. We urge all members to be vigilant, to support colleagues who may be directly or indirectly affected, and to stand together against hatred in all its forms.
