PRCA launches Global PR Ethics Survey

The PRCA Global Ethics Council has launched a first-of-its-kind global research project, in partnership with Washington D.C.-based Ethics & Compliance Initiative, to examine the state of ethics and compliance in Public Relations (PR) and communications across the world.

The global survey, based on ECI’s long-standing Global Business Ethics Survey® (GBES®), seeks to measure key ethics outcomes including, the amount and types of workplace misconduct observed by PR practitioners, and the frequency of retaliation experienced as a result of reporting the misconduct.

The PRCA Global Ethics Council will use the findings to paint a clear picture on global attitudes towards workplace ethics and the potential roadblocks to engaging in ethical practice. The findings will also inform recommendations on how the industry should handle unethical requests and mandates from management and clients.

Take the Global Business Ethics Survey® (GBES®) for the Public Relations Industry here. Survey closes on 30th September at 23:59 BST.

PRCA Global Ethics Council Co-Chair Mary Beth West FPRCA, said:

“The PRCA Ethics Council is proud to partner with ECI for this unprecedented study of ethics issues confronting industry practitioners working at all levels and sectors of the industry. The depth and breadth of data we anticipate receiving will help the PRCA Ethics Council develop more specific guidance and advocacy tied to real-world ethics challenges and pressure points.”

ECI Vice President, Research & Analytics, Evren Esen, said:

“ECI is honoured to collaborate with the PRCA Ethics Council on this study. Including perspectives of PR industry practitioners in ECI’s body of existing research will expand our insight on industry specific ethics trends.”
