PRCA REEB’s Ethnicity Pay Gap Guide freely available

The PRCA’s Race and Ethnicity Equity Board’s (REEB) Ethnicity Pay Gap Guide is now freely available to all PR and communications professionals. The comprehensive 24-page guide was previously available to PRCA members only.

Closing the ethnicity pay gap in the PR and Communications industry – authored by Michelle Gyimah, a former Equalities and Human Rights Commission pay equality specialist – is packed with practical tips on how to track and act on ethnicity pay gaps.

The guide features advice on how to overcome challenges in ethnic pay reporting, including how to improve ethnicity disclosure amongst Black, Asian and ethnically diverse professionals.

PRCA REEB Chair, Barbara Phillips MPRCA, said:

“This is such an important piece of work with an impact that reaches far beyond PRCA members. REEB believes that all Black and Asian professionals (especially) have every right to be paid at the same rate for the same or similar role as our White counterparts.

“Also, to be included in the leadership track that sees our salaries and benefits grow in line with everyone else. We are releasing the guide to the wider PR and comms industry because we know it’s where REEB members (along with many other professionals) have personally experienced the devastation of being paid less than our White peers essentially because of our skin colour. But we want ethnicity based pay gaps reported and closed for everyone everywhere. It’s time.”

The new guide is the first major contribution from the PRCA’s Race and Ethnicity Equity Board, which was created in July this year to establish immediate and long-term racial equity for Black and ethnically diverse PR professionals.
