PRCA statement on Golders Green terror attack
Following yet another terror attack on the Jewish community yesterday, our thoughts are with all of our Jewish colleagues in the public relations, communications and public affairs industries.
Sir Ephraim Mirvis, the Chief Rabbi, said yesterday that “This must be a moment that demands meaningful action from every institution, every community, every leader and every decent person in our country. This is a hatred that we must face down together.”
We stand with the Jewish community and are committed to ensuring our profession remains a place of safety, support and unity.
We are seeing an unprecedented increase in anti Jewish hate crime with this latest attack following the arson attack on ambulances and the attempted fire-bombing of two Jewish places of worship over the last few weeks.
As a result, it’s likely many of our Jewish colleagues are feeling anxious, scared or overwhelmed, so as with our message after the October terrorist attack on a synagogue in Manchester, we encourage you to check in on your Jewish colleagues and friends, even if it’s to simply ask them how they are.
Small acts of kindness and solidarity go a long way to help people feel less isolated in moments of fear.
For colleagues who need support, the Jami UK mental health charity (jamiuk.org) provides tailored support for the Jewish community, and more general support is also available through Mind (0300 123 3393) and Samaritans (116 123).
