PRCA Welcomes Government’s Industrial Strategy and Recognition of Communications Sector
The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) has welcomed the UK Government’s newly published Industrial Strategy which contained a range of policy measures aimed at accelerating growth for the UK economy and outlined ambitious plans to drive national growth, create 1.1 million new jobs, and unlock billions in investment across key sectors.
Among the eight priority sectors identified, Professional and Business Services is highlighted and recognises the vital role played by strategic advisers, including public relations professionals, in supporting business performance and economic growth.
PRCA Interim CEO, Sarah Waddington CBE, said:
“The recognition of our sector within the Industrial Strategy is a clear signal of the value that communications professionals bring to business growth, innovation, and the UK’s global reputation. Communication is core to business success and our members are crucial in providing expert strategic advice where it matters.”
The Strategy includes bespoke sector plans, five of which were published yesterday, developed with industry to guide transformation through to 2035. The emphasis on regional investment across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland offers significant opportunities for communications professionals to support local business transformation and growth.
As an outstanding Ofsted rated training provider for apprenticeships, the PRCA welcomes the government’s commitment of £1.2 billion annually to skills development and access to talent and is pleased to see the focus on digital innovation and AI integration in our industry.
