PRCA’s new collaboration with IoD secures training access and membership discount

The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) has today announced a new strategic collaboration with the Institute of Directors (IoD), marking a significant step in bringing the communications profession closer to the wider business community.

The collaboration is designed to equip PRCA members with the leadership capability, commercial understanding and strategic insight required to operate effectively at senior levels, ensuring practitioners are better prepared to manage teams, advise boards and contribute to organisational performance.

As part of the collaboration, PRCA members will benefit from:

  • Access to IoD professional development programmes at IoD member rates by emailing PRCA2026@iod.com.
  • An exclusive 20% discount on IoD membership using code PRCA20

Through this initiative, PRCA members can enrol in a range of IoD programmes, including:

  • Certificate in Company Direction
  • Global Certificate in Company Direction
  • Role of the Director and the Board
  • Finance for Non-Finance Directors

These programmes provide practical, board-level training in governance, finance and strategic decision-making, supporting communications professionals to move beyond executional roles and into positions of organisational influence.

In addition, the discounted IoD membership offer gives PRCA members access to a wider ecosystem of business insight, policy engagement and cross-sector networking.

PRCA CEO, Sarah Waddington CBE, said: “The IoD’s drive to create better directors for a better world fits with our own vision to lead the global evolution of public relations and public affairs through innovation, excellence and the highest ethical standards, and to demonstrate how our work is for the public good.

“PR’s role in managing reputation and risk is increasingly recognised by savvy management teams, and this collaboration with the IoD further strengthens the support for our members so they can occupy the role of strategic adviser with confidence.

“As a proud Chartered Director and IoD member, I can testify that the personal development it offers is genuinely transformational - it’s a pleasure to see this collaboration come to life.”

IoD Director of Business Development, Janet Baker, said:

“Business thrives when expertise is shared, not siloed. At IoD we are committed to business-to-business collaboration and this brings two influential communities together to strengthen leadership capability across the UK.

“PR professionals play a critical role in helping organisations navigate complexity, manage risk and build trust, and we are proud to support their development through access to our professional development programmes and wider business network.

“By opening up these learning pathways, we are investing in a more connected and collaborative business landscape. Together, we can help leaders across sectors make better decisions, strengthen performance and contribute to a more sustainable and successful future for UK business.”
