THOP Institute Launches Inaugural International Conference on Government and Communications (CIGC) in Africa

The THOP Institute, a think tank that is committed to fostering Africa’s economic and human development through the effective use of public relations and strategic communications is set to host the first-ever Conférence Internationale sur les Governments et les Communications (CIGC) at the Pullman Hotel in Abidjan on November 10, 2023. The CIGC is an annual forum designed for public sector communication professionals to exchange ideas, explore the latest trends, and redefine new approaches.

The theme for the inaugural event is “Building Trust between the Youth and Government,” and the conference will feature renowned government communication experts from around the world. Attendees can expect insightful presentations, practical workshops, and engaging conversations on topics such as crisis communication, youth engagement, combating misinformation, and the use of new media.

The conference also promises a unique opportunity for attendees to network with like-minded individuals and explore some of the most innovative and effective communication strategies with industry leaders. Some of the featured speakers include Alex Aiken, the Executive Director of the United Kingdom Government Communications Services, Annie Mutamba, co-founder of Africa Communications Week, and Thebe Ikalafeng, Founder and Chairman of Brand Africa, as well as other seasoned communication professionals.

The CIGC is a great platform for participants to interact with some of the most prominent names in the industry, explore how public sector communication can help build trust between young people and their governments and acquire the relevant skills to achieve this” says Kwame Senou, Founder at THOP Institute, “We are excited to host this annual event and look forward to welcoming government agencies, public institutions, international organizations, media, and educational institutions to the conference."

Opinion & Public BCW is the main sponsor of the CIGC, which is an excellent opportunity for professionals to learn from each other and expand their knowledge and skills. “We are privileged to associate our brand with the largest gathering of public sector communications’ experts. We will continue to strategically invest in addressing the pain points of government communication." says Lerato Mpholo, Managing Director of Opinion & Public BCW.
